Poop on Pizza!

What if I offered you a pizza fresh from the oven with bubbling hot cheese and all your favorite toppings. That sounds good doesn’t it? What if on the way to presenting it to you I put a big pile of dog poop on top of it. Would you eat it? Of course not! What if I only took a small hand full of dog poop and sprinkled it on the pizza. Would you eat it then? No, it’s still disgusting.

How about if I wipe the poop off? Would you eat it then? No way, no matter how hard I try I could never get it all off. It would still smell and taste like dog poop. “Sin is to God as dog poop is to people.” Sometimes we think we can clean ourselves up, then we will be good enough to get into heaven. But we can never get clean enough. God can’t allow any amount of sin in heaven.

How would you eat the pizza? Would you eat it if I brought you a whole new pizza? See that’s the only way we can get into heaven. God sees us as tainted no matter how good or bad we think we are, because we all have sinned. We need a new pizza, the old one will never be good enough to get into heaven. We have to die and allow Christ to live in us.

What do I mean? Recorded in the book of Mark, the first words of Jesus’ public ministry was repent and believe the good news (Mark 1:14). If you are ready to get a new pizza, you must throw away the old one. Put sin behind you and run to the savior.
